It delves into various questions about what law is, how it functions, and what it should be.Jurisprudence explores the fundamental question, “What is law?” It examines the nature and characteristics that distinguish law from other norms and social rules. It studies how law functions within society, including its role in regulating behavior, resolving disputes, and maintaining order. Sources of Law is statutory law created by legislative bodies, common law developed through judicial decisions and precedents, customary law with traditional norms and practices that have gained legal status and international law with rules and principles governing relations between states and other international actors.

Jurisprudence examines the methods judges and lawyers use to interpret statutes, precedents, and legal texts. It looks into the underlying principles that guide legal reasoning, such as fairness, justice, and equality. Jurisprudence analyses the nature and scope of rights, including human rights, property rights, and contractual rights. It also explores the obligations imposed by law on individuals and institutions. जुरिसप्रूडेंस, जिसे विधि दर्शन के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, कानून के स्वभाव, उद्देश्यों और कार्यप्रणाली को समझने का एक व्यापक और जटिल क्षेत्र है। यह जानने का प्रयास करता है कि कानून क्या है, यह कैसे काम करता है, और इसे कैसा होना चाहिए। जुरिसप्रूडेंस इस बुनियादी प्रश्न की जांच करता है, “कानून क्या है?” यह उन विशेषताओं और गुणों का अध्ययन करता है जो कानून को अन्य मानदंडों और सामाजिक नियमों से अलग बनाते हैं। यह समाज में कानून की कार्यप्रणाली का अध्ययन करता है, जिसमें व्यवहार को विनियमित करना, विवादों को हल करना, और व्यवस्था बनाए रखना शामिल है। कानून के स्रोत के रुप में  विधायी निकायों द्वारा बनाए गए कानून का प्रयोग करना। न्यायिक निर्णयों और पूर्व मामलों के आधार पर कानून विकसित करना। पारंपरिक मानदंड और प्रथाएं जो कानूनी स्थिति प्राप्त कर चुकी हैं का समय समय पर प्रासंगिकता। राज्यों और अन्य अंतरराष्ट्रीय अभिनेताओं के बीच संबंधों को नियंत्रित करने वाले नियम और सिध्दांतों का निर्माण इसके अन्तर्गत आते हैं।
